Jacob Conser, a co-founder of Jefferson, and his wife, Nancy Gunsaules, moved to this
location on the banks of the Santiam River in 1851. In 1854, they constructed this house
as a family home. Through the years it served as a boarding house, city hall, and the
local library. It is now the Conser House Museum operated by Jefferson Historical
Society & Museum, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Filled with warmth and charm is the historic 1871 Jefferson United Methodist Church, which celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2021. It has the distinction of being the oldest church in Jefferson, as well as one of the oldest buildings in town. It was built with local materials and crafted by Jefferson residents. The sanctuary showcases the original wooden pews, restored wood plank flooring and stunning stained glass windows, adding to its timeless beauty. The yard and gardens are also available for guests to freely meander through before and after the wedding.
This church venue provides a classic and historic Victorian and country wedding setting with sanctuary seating of up to 90 guests. Adjoining the sanctuary is a hall which may be rented for receptions, rehearsal dinners, showers and other events. Seating capacity is for 50 people for seated dinners with tables and chairs. The total capacity is 96 in the area for a more casual reception. Kitchen facilities and other amenities are available upon request; including linens, silver tea and coffee service, crystal punch bowl, silverware, plates and a variety of other decor.
The iconic Greater Jefferson Community Center was built in 1905 and was originally considered the bank block. This structure has had many lives over the last 120 years. While the left portion originally held Jefferson's first bank, JH Roland opened a dry goods and grocery store in the 1920s in the main section. When the bank closed, the Post Office took its place until an official Post Office was built.. The bank vault is still present in what is called “The Vault Room” of the Community Center. The main part of the building has had many uses through the years. It was Waylon & Willie's tavern, a migrant league office, a real estate office, a furniture store, and was the site of our original museum. The Greater Jefferson Community Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, was founded in 2006 with the efforts of a group of dedicated volunteers who purchased the empty building and saved it from demolition. Over the years, the nonprofit that oversees the building has added a kitchen and opens its doors to a variety of purposes to truly serve “as the community gathering place.”
Events such as a bridal party, reunion, memorial service, wedding or reception can be held within the space.Occupancy levels are 90 people for formal seating, with up to 200 for more casual events. In addition to tables and chairs, the Center has plates, cutlery, and linens available. A full kitchen and places to dress and prepare for your event are offered as well. A sound system and slide set up is available for use. If you would like a tour or to simply ask more questions, please contact Lindsey.
